The London Photo Show is a vibrant gathering of photographers and art lovers, showcasing a wide range of photographic styles, and techniques. This year, from 12th to 16th November, I will be exhibiting my recent work at the Oxo Gallery, open daily from 11am to 6pm. My exhibition features images captured along the coasts of the Outer Hebrides and Sussex, created using the technique of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). This approach allows me to explore the elements of colour, light, and shadow and introduces abstraction and mood into the images.
Traditional photography aims for sharp and static images but with ICM we are doing the exact opposite. By including movement we can create a more painterly and dynamic effect. By controlling the speed and direction of the camera’s movement, colours are manipulated and blended, and light and shadows can interact. The result is a series of images that evoke emotion and atmosphere rather than precise detail.

Coastal Inspirations from the Outer Hebrides & Sussex Coast
Like many photographers, the Outer Hebrides is one of my favourite places with vast skies, and ever-changing weather, not to mention the stunning beaches. I spent much of my childhood on the west coast of Scotland and it always feels like coming home. The natural elements - wind, wave and light - are in constant motion and provide many challenges. When I was there earlier this year, we had storms every day - but if you persevere the glimpses of light between weather fronts can be very rewarding.

A little closer to home now, Sussex offers a contrasting coastline from the chalky cliffs, pebble beaches to the long sandy beaches at Camber Sands and West Wittering. A little more accessible from where I now live and a much calmer weather pattern than up north!

The London Photo Show is now in its 9th year, alternating between some great venues and from12-16 November it will be at the Oxo Gallery, Oxo Tower Wharf, Southbank, London SE1 9PH. Open from 11am to 6pm, admission is free.
